Nothing about this article explains about Maori "tattoo" or TaMoko which is the what I think you must be refering to. Maori are in New Zealand and we are a part of the Polynesian Islands but our sacret designs are different to say Tonga, Samoa, and others! don't lump our cultures together we are different with different customs etc. this article may describe other Polynesian tattoo styles but not Maori.

If anyone really wants a TaMoko then visit a real TaMoko artist. we know our designs and how to group them together, unlike foriegn tattoo artists around the world that pretend to know our traditional art form and they cut and paste designs to form what they claim as Maori Tattoo.
Let me tell anyone that reads this! any Properly trained TaMoko artist can and will recognize if your ink work is authentically Maori. Maori style designs cut and pasted or placed in a design where ever a tattooist thinks looks good is easy for us to spot. Our designs are sacret to us and they have there specific use.
If you want wear fake Maori tattoo done by a Tattoist fine. we know the difference and will tell you if u come to New Zealand. Otherwise respect the artform and visit a Real Tamoko artist and feel the mana and pride that others do from recieving the full experience that Tamoko provides before, during and after application.

An omen (also called portent or presage) is a phenomenon that is believed to foretell the future, often signifying the advent of change. Omens may be considered "good" or "bad", but the term is more often used in a foreboding sense, as with the word "ominous".

There is no such thing as a yellow cat unless you mean a ginger cat or a caramel tone in which case it could be an Abyssinian breed which has dark tipped very short fur. Cats can be protectors and familiars.
